Today we were informed that after a lengthy review of title standards and content and volume of work the Office of Court Administration has decided to increase Court Officers and Sergeants one salary grade to reflect the job changes and additional responsibilities. This initiative was unilateral and nothing was given back for this increase. Certain titles were not given the increase after OCAs review. These omissions will be revisited during the next round of contract negotiations. Furthermore, this was not a union negotiation and we will be working diligently to ensure this initiative is implemented properly so as not to negatively affect any members’ standing on the salary chart. This is a well deserved acknowledgement of the incredibly hard and professional effort so many of our members make every day. By no means should this be construed as some type of quid pro quo that would cause the union to not pay strict attention to the needs of its members in the next round of negotiations for a successor agreement. As always, I urge all SCOA members to refrain from social media and rumor and get your information from your usual credible sources, delegates, board members and nysscoa.org.
Stay safe,
Patrick Cullen
