Message from Lt. Steve Vera:

I am a NYS Court Officer. My department lost 3 court officers on 9/11. Specifically, Senior Court Officer Thomas E. Jurgens and I attended the NYS Court Officer’s Academy as recruits together. He was my Squad Leader. We were subsequently assigned to our first command together in The Bronx (Criminal Court). We interviewed together for the same position which landed him in NY County Supreme Court 111 Centre Street only blocks away from the World Trade Center. He and 22 other uniformed court officers from NY County Supreme Court boarded a Jury Bus and headed to the WTC under the command of Major Reginald Mebane. My fiance (Pat), a Supreme Court Officer from The Bronx, responded with officers from her command by 1pm that day. We took turns working at the pit and bucket brigade on & off for approx 2 weeks. In Nov of 2001, I was promoted to Sr Court Officer in the same Command as Tommy and interviewed by the same Major that led him and my brother officers heroicly to the WTC that day. Tommy and I were both US Army veterans and shared a great fondness for the NY Yankees ( I’m born & raised in The Bronx). Tommy was posthumously promoted to SGT. I miss him. I do this for my three lost brothers.  I stand tall and proud because of their sacrifice that day. I am true to the Blue, never running from but always running to. Please join me in remaining true to the blue.

All proceeds raised will go to supporting the 9/11 Memorial & Museum.
